Ultra Low Emissions Zone (ULEZ) begins in Bromley borough on 29th August 2023.

The aim of the ULEZ is to improve air quality by reducing the number of vehicles in London that don't meet emissions standards.

The ULEZ operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, every day of the year, except Christmas Day (25 December).

From August 29th 2023 it will expand to operate in all 32 London Boroughs, including Bromley. More information on Transport for London (TFL) website

If your vehicle doesn't meet the ULEZ emissions standards and isn't exempt, you need to pay a daily charge to drive within the zone, currently £12.50.

Scrappage Scheme - The Mayor of London has a scrappage scheme, which provides financial assistance to help Londoners scrap their non-compliant vehicles.  Currently, people receiving Child Benefit or certain low income or disability benefits are eligible to apply, but from 21 August 2023, they will remove the requirement to receive benefits. This means that anyone living in one of the 32 London boroughs, (including Bromley borough) or the City of London, with an eligible vehicle, will be able to apply to scrap a car or motorcycle.
