Volunteers Week 1st - 7th June 2026

Volunteers Week is a time to say a massive thank you to the incredible people who support our work at Bromley Well.  Over the past year, around 150 volunteers have helped us to help Bromley residents, supporting health, wellbeing and independence.

Without them we wouldn't have been able to reach as many residents as we have.

A year of impact

Working alongside staff at Bromley Well partner charities – Age UK Bromley and Greenwich, Bromley Mencap, Citizens Advice Bromley and South East London Mind - volunteers have contributed 29,000+ hours last year, the equivalent of around 18 full-time staff.

  • Helped answer 9,416 calls in our Contact Centre, thats around 30 calls a day from residents seeking support
  • Supported 6,806 residents at first contact in our Contact Centre
  • Completed 520+ "official" forms helping residents to access over £2.5m in benefits and grants
  • Helped support 1,577 residents with Information & Advice for 18-64 yr olds
  • Contributed 3,680 hours of befriending support, helping reduce loneliness, offering regular contact and connection to residents who might otherwise go days without speaking to someone.

Volunteering helps build skills and opportunities

During the year, 13 of our volunteers went on to find paid work – a great result for them and the local community (though we are always sorry to see them go!)

Regular volunteering is a great way to build skills and experience for CVs. Building transferable skills, demonstrating commitment to team and self-development along the way.

Thank you

Lorraine Whittaker, CEO at Citizens Advice Bromley
“This year, our volunteers have been nothing short of extraordinary. Thanks to their dedication, thousands of Bromley residents received the help they needed — from helping to answer over 9,400 calls to our Single Point of Access (Contact Centre), to supporting people with benefits claims, housing issues and the rising cost of living.

On behalf of everyone at Bromley Well and Citizens Advice Bromley, thank you for the compassion, commitment and difference you make every single day.”

Mark Ellison, CEO at Age UK Bromley and Greenwich
“Our volunteers are at the very heart of what we do at Age UK Bromley and Greenwich. This year, they helped older residents complete more than 500 official forms; provided essential information and advice and offered befriending support that brings connection and reassurance to people who might otherwise go days without speaking to someone.

We are deeply grateful for everything our volunteers do. Without them, we simply could not deliver the support our communities depend on.”
