Do you work with people with health conditions? Interested in learning new skills to promote health and wellbeing?
The Bromley Well Long Term Health Conditions Service would like to invite you and members of your team to a free training workshop on Thursday 21st February 2pm – 4.30pm at Community House, South Street, Bromley, Kent BR1 1RH.
What is Making Every Contact Count (MECC)?
Developed by Public Health England and the NHS, MECC is about supporting our service users to make positive changes to their physical and mental health and wellbeing. The MECC approach recognises that staff across the health, local authority and voluntary sectors have thousands of contacts with individuals every day and are uniquely placed to promote health and healthy lifestyles.
Who is this training for?
This training is for staff in Bromley borough who are in contact with service users during the course of their day to day work.
What's covered:
We will explores strategies and techniques to raise awareness with clients and signposting to healthy lifestyle resources. MECC focuses on the lifestyle issues that, when addressed, can make the greatest improvement to an individual’s health including
- Stopping smoking
- Drinking alcohol only within the recommended limits
- Healthy eating
- Being physically active
- Keeping to a healthy weight
- Improving mental health and wellbeing.
You'll learn about:
- Principles, skills and strategies of MECC
- Where to signpost/refer your clients locally, including an overview of Bromley Well Services
- Applying MECC in your work setting.
